August 8 - What would we do without Google?

Happy Tuesday! It was a Canadian civic holiday yesterday so that's why our p-day is today. I know God is real, and because he is, Satan is real also. He is working tireless to stop people from receiving the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. There's a term missionaries use for someone who investigates for a time and then is turned away from the church because of what they read online or hear from others: we say they were "anti'd". Well, 2 of our potential investigators were "anti'd" this week from online research...on the same day actually. One of which was the well-studied christian guy who let us in at the door last week. We sat down with him on Wednesday. He said he read the chapters from the Book of Mormon we assigned and he also did his own research online about the church... When you have a question about something, you have 3 sources to turn to: the world, friends/family, and God. These days, when you have a question, the quickes...

July 31 - Many miracles and many lessons learned

Good day! I've learned a lot from my time in the area of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, especially in this past week. 1st miracle from this week: we had 2 investigators at church! This is very exciting for this ward and branch, because it was the first time since the beginning of march that an investigator has come to church here (almost 6 months). These 2 investigators are member referrals/former investigators and 1 is ready for baptism. Her name is Leslie. We were introduced to Leslie on Friday, she is a very special member referral. She is 63 and was almost baptized 20 years ago. Family difficulties and other things got in the way, it didn't work out. The Lord has been preparing her ever since: she has read and has a testimony of the 4 standard works and other church books. She loves it all. She basically keeps all of the commandments... when reminded about coffee she said, "Oh, well I can give that up no problem." At the beginning of our visit she asked, ...

July 24 - Car Accident!

Good day! I don't have too much to report on in terms of missionary work, but things are slowly going in the right direction. I'd like to mainly report on the car accident. If you read the title you are probably worried if I got hurt in the accident. It might be sad news to some but nobody got hurt in the accident. One guy was a witness to the accident and by his reaction, you would have thought we had ran somebody over, I'm not even exaggerating. Let me explain the juicy details. What happened is my companion was turning right to pull into a parking spot and there was a car parked on the left of the spot. He turned late and thought he could make it but had to stop right as our front left bumper was really close to the cars back right bumper. A middle aged guy about 30 feet away looked over and yelled, "Whoa you almost hit that car!" My companion had to stop and reverse a bit so I got out of the car. I didn't hear any contact so I thought we were go...

July 17 - No movement, 1 Joke, 1 gun, 3 Lessons, and a seed!

Bonjour! It is transfers week, I will be staying another transfer in beautiful Sault Ste. Marie! It is going to be a good 6 weeks! Let's start off with a Mormon joke I came across recently: Q: What do John the Baptist and Winnie the Pooh have in common? A: Their middle names Feel free to wipe your eyes and regain your composure after that one before you continue reading. So a sketchy guy pulled a gun on me this week, it was pretty intense. Haha I'm just kidding, that didn't happen. What did happen is we had 3 investigator lessons this week! Just as exciting! 2 of those lessons were with former investigators and they were both very interesting experiences. One lesson was with a man who suffers from some mental issues which is unfortunate. Some of the stuff he was talking about were pretty way out there and he was cursing every sentence. He's a nice guy, but we won't be seeing him again.  The other lesson was an eye-opening experience for me....
